A new ramen hot spot has hit the Pasadena food scene. To try, or not to try: that is the question! We are convinced we have already found the best ramen in the country.
After arriving late on a Sunday night, dining options were limited. Lucky for us, Tatsu Ramen stays open until 2 am and is only a half-mile away. I peeked at the menu on the walk over because I’m very indecisive…not the simple ramen menu we’re used to. So many choices! We decided on a bowl of Bold and a bowl of Soul. The ordering process was simple, place your customized order and pay at one of the three iPad/kiosks. The host will seat you or inform you of the approximate wait time. We chose to grab two available seats at the bar and our order wasn’t far behind. Both bowls satisfied our hunger, but we agreed, the Soul was the better choice of the two. The Bold had a smoky flavor and was very salty…too salty. The Soul had a little spice, tasty black garlic oil, and topped with ground beef. Yes, you read that correctly, ground beef in ramen! It was very interesting…different than the authentic, Japanese ramen we are used to.
Still convinced we have already found the best ramen in the country at Pasadena’s own Ramen Tatsunoya, we won’t hesitate to visit Tatsu Ramen again. It’s very convenient for our late night arrivals and there are a few other things on the menu we want to try.
